help and support of the many friends we've made through the organization, the

our new Thank You page, and take a look at the many
folks who've helped us so much over this great journey. Be Our Guest! We've got a few new exciting features available on the site today. First up is our new guestbook feature. Riders On The StormThe Story of The Eye Reckon Freedom Ride, is coming out over Labor Day Weekend in Bandera. Click here to read an exclusive excerpt from this humorous, adventurous, and poignant story by author Mary Allyce.
PoetryWhile we were in Montana, late June, 2004, Reckon straddled a rattlesnake. Hoot pulled his pistol and shot the snake and Reckon, who's not used to pistols at close range, bucked. There's some debate whether Hoot lasted 8 seconds, but when he landed, he broke ribs. He was the only shoer on the trip and he was in no shape to shoe anything. As we approached Calgary, horses and mules needed shoeing, trimming and clips. Our friend, Robin Arthurs, on whose land we were camping, sent Marshall Iles to do the job. We didn't know it at the time, but Marshall is the Chairman of the World Championship Horseshoeing Committee at Stampede and himself a former World Champion Shoer. He got our animals in good order and when it came time to pay him, he refused money. "I want you to write me a song or a poem about a horseshoer who BUYS a mule, Hoot," he said. Back home in Bandera, Mike Newman, with Hoot's input, wrote "I Specialize in Mules". The payoff came just before the awarding of the 2005 Championship when Marshall brought Hoot up to the mike and he performed the piece before the audience and Marshall. It was well received, as it always is, but the payoff for Hoot came when, "I turned to Marshall and saw tears running down his cheeks." It loses something just sitting on a page, but y'all c'mon to Bandera and hear it in person! "I Specialize In Mules".
Thank You Canada CampaignAs part of our Thank You Canada Campaign, we will be selling products related to the ERFR. While we don't have the products section quite up and running, check back soon and click here to see what we've got cookin'.
