HISTORY

Hoot was born James Earl Gibson in the "Heart of Texas" - a town called Brady.  He and his twin brother Thomas, their two older brothers, George and William and their younger sister Evelyn, were raised in San Saba, Texas.  Hoot attended Tarleton State, a branch of Texas A&M, on a football scholarship.  Sports, including rodeo, were a big part of Hoot's life along with farming and ranching.  After graduation, he used one of his areas of study - geology - to propel a career in oil drilling in Texas, Pakistan and Italy.  When the oil fields dealt everyone a bad hand, Hoot went back into ranching , running cattle operations, raising, training and shoeing  horses.  The Eye Reckon Freedom Ride was born of an idea he tossed around after completing a 150 mile fund raising ride for his church.  Making a truly epic ride began to take shape when he set as his goal the Calgary Stampede & Rodeo.
Under the umbrella of Eye Reckon Horse, Hoot's company named for his beautiful quarter horse gelding "Eye Reckon", the Eye Reckon Freedom Ride made history.  The adventure will continue with future events and rides as Eye Reckon Horse branches out in new directions and charges into new horizons.
